The Rules and Regulations for the National Cups and National Championships in mountain biking and BMX have been officially confirmed and published. The changes concerning downhill are not big, but it’s good to know them.
It is certainly worthwhile for riders, team managers and others to read the rules and regulations, which can be found here (Slovenian only).
New for 2025
Look Good for Podium
The rules now clearly state that competitors must attend the award presentation in their team’s competition jerseys (i.e. not the usual t-shirts, sweaters, pants).
Although the rules do not stipulate that the winners must attend the award ceremony in closed footwear (and not in flip flops or even barefoot), for the sake of the positive image of the sport, the Public Relations Department of the ACS strongly recommends wearing appropriate footwear and also advises against wearing sunglasses in such a way that they obscure the eyes.
National Under-17 Women’s Championships
In the downhill discipline, there are now two women’s categories at the National Championships:
- Women (combined category of juniors and elite),
- Women under 17 (combined category of under 17, under 15, under 13 girls).
If a National Championship race also counts for Cup points, separate presentations shall be done: for the National Championship in two separate categories and for the Cup race with the combined women’s category.
Minimum and Recommended Track Length
Until now, the national rules have required stricter minimum distance requirements than the UCI rules. Now the winning time must be at least 1 minute. The recommended course length is between 1.5 and 3.5 km with an elevation difference of 300 metres.
